Mozart

“It is much easier to play something fast than slowly; you can drop several notes in passages, without anybody noticing. But is that good? – You can change in speed with the right or left hand, without anybody seeing or hearing, but is it good? And what is the skill of reading prima vista?

It’s this: to play the piece at the right speed, as it should be, all notes, proposals with the right expression and gusto, as instructed, so that you would think the person playing the piece had composed it.”
